ONE of the most ambitious architectural projects in Europe is set to transform the landscape of the Five Valleys forever.
Plans to build a replica of The Shard on the site of Tricorn House will turn the area into a must-see destination, bringing cosmopolitan glamour to the centre of Stroud.
The work on the 87-storey skyscraper is due to start this morning, Wednesday.
Eventually, a stunning metropolitan hub will be created on the site of one of the town’s most-hated buildings.
Described as a “vertical city,” it will incorporate shops, offices, hotels, apartments, restaurants and a public viewing gallery offering breathtaking views of the Stroud valleys.
At just over 300 metres, the futuristic tower will be one of the tallest buildings in the EU.
Designed by award-winning architect Renzo Piano, the original Shard was completed in 2012 near London Bridge.
It is now noon - we hope you enjoyed our April Fool, unfortunately Tricrorn House is still standing.
