Winter Fourball League Results

LATE developers Mark Clayton and Steve Bishop have won the championship division of the 2014/15 Winter Fourball League (WFBL) at Cirencester Golf Club.

Clayton and Bishop emerged triumphant after an epic tussle with their close rivals Andy Tibbles (who kindly graced us with his presence when Southampton FC weren’t playing at home) and Tom (Mr Steady) Waller.

Youngsters Kyle Outram and Daniel Skinley finished a creditable third.

The course stood up superbly over the winter and for the first time ever not a single weekend was lost due to the weather.

The Timecraft Cup League was won by former pro Jon Sutherland and his sidekick Lewis Palmer by a clear margin.

Four teams finished in joint-second place, the final placings having to be decided on a countback based on the difference between total holes won and lost.

Steve Springthorpe, in his first WFBL season, and his partner Kevin Young finally took second spot by a narrow margin of two holes from Gavin Allen and John Cowley, who beat off experienced old-timers Worthington and Johnson to take third place, again by a two-hole differential.

John Davies and Bob Mills were runaway winners of League Three, having won all eight of their phase two matches.

They vehemently deny that they threw their phase one qualifying matches just to get into a lower division in phase two!

The new combination of Richard and Scott Hicks finished on level points with Ally Carter (well, his injury substitute really) and Stuart Michaelis, but the former pairing secured second place with a superior hole difference score of three holes.
