‘GIVE and take’ is the secret of a long marriage according to a Chedworth couple who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last month.

Frank and Margaret Scrivens were teenagers when they first met in 1947 at a youth centre they attended in Colesbourne and they immediately clicked.

It didn’t take long for the two to tie the not and they wed three years later on March 25 1950 at St. James' Church, in Colesbourne.

Margaret, 84, said: “It was love at first sight. We were never apart after that.”

The couple used to live in Withington, before they moved to Chedworth in 1974.

Margaret explained living in the village has been a fantastic play to enjoy married life.

She said: “It is a beautiful place to be.”

The pair are now retired but had a long working life.

Margaret worked at Withington's post office and Frank was a tractor driver for several farms, including Upcote farm in Withington , Frank said that the pair have always had a sharing a caring relationship and have worked hard all their lives, always saving hard for everything they own.

Frank, 87, said: “We have been very happy together. If we wanted anything we just saved for it and bought it.

“We have always had the cash so we can buy things straight away. ”

Although the two are now retired they still like to keep themselves busy by attending the Chedworth Elderberries club, a group for old people in the village.

The couple have one son , one grandchild and two great grandchildren and they are holding off on anniversary celebrations until their family who are based Perth in Scotland, visit them in May.
