POLICE have released more details about the crash on the A40 near Sherborne, which is thought to have been fatal.

Just before midday a "serious road traffic collision" occured between a car and motorbike on the A40 between Northleach and Burford.

Police will later confirm eye-witness accounts that one person was killed in the crash.

The road remains closed for six and a half miles between the Northleach roundabout and Little Barrington.

The roads around the accident are still congested as drivers seek alternative routes.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have information in relation to the collision to call Gloucestershire Police on telephone number 101, quoting incident 164 of April 6.
