POLICE have confirmed that the person killed in a crash on the A40 in the Cotswolds today was a 41-year-old motorcyclist.
The man, from Cheltenham, died in the collision near Sherborne which happened just before noon.
A Gloucestershire police spokesman said: "Following a serious road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 11.55am today on the A40 near Sherborne, Gloucestershire, between a car and a motorbike, police can confirm that the motorcyclist very sadly lost his life.
"Paramedics and police attended the scene
"The victim, aged 41, lived in Cheltenham. His next of kin have been informed.
"An occupant of the other vehicle involved in the collision was taken to hospital in Oxford for treatment to non life threatening injuries.
"Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have information in relation to this collision to call Gloucestershire police on telephone number 101, quoting Incident Number 164 of 6 April."
Police closed the A40 between the Northleach roundabout and Little Barrington following the crash.
