THE electric car charging point that was vandalised before it could become operational has still not been fixed.

Cotswold District Council (CDC) paid for the point in Beeches Car Park, Cirencester, to be built at the end of 2014.

The point was vandalised before it could become operational and CDC had said it would be fixed at the end of March.

An electric car driver contacted the Standard to say that the point was still unusable a week after the council’s proposed date.

A council spokesman said: “The replacement part for the car charging point is on order, but unfortunately we do not have a date for it.

“Once the council has the part they will repair and commission the point on the same day.

“If someone had not vandalised the point it would have been commissioned already.

“We will have the point up and running as soon as possible.”

Once the charging point is commissioned it must be registered which will take two or three days.
