WOMEN from Cirencester are being urged to join the fight against cancer by signing up to this year's Race for Life.

Fundraisers from Cancer Research UK will be putting on their war paint this Saturday at Tesco Extra in Cirencester to give shoppers a chance to find out more about the race.

Race for Life is at Cirencester Park on Sunday, July 19 and women of all ages and running abilities are urged to sign up.

Volunteers will be at the Tesco store from 10am-2pm this Saturday (April 18) to give shoppers the chance to try bold face paint designs and nail art, while also take a selfie in the Battle HQ tent to share their 'fight-face' photo.

Area Event Manager for Gloucestershire Michelle Leighton said: "We’re bringing our Battle HQ to Tesco to give women of all ages a chance to experience the power and the passion of Race for Life and to find out what’s in store at our Cirencester event in June. We hope it will motivate women of all shapes and sizes to sign up as soon as possible."

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy and Marathon events which raises millions of pounds every year to help beat 200 different types of cancer.

Last year, 1,770 women in Cirencester took part, raising more than £100,000. This year organisers want 1,850 women to come out and raise £105,000.
