CIRENCESTER’S Ride 24/7’s cycling team have started the new season in style.

The newly-formed women’s team enjoyed their first win through Phoebe Speck at Totnes, with Corinne Clark also picking up two wins in as many races at the Victoria Park Criterium in Leamington on the same day.

Phoebe continued her fine run of form with second place at the Somerset Road Club’s Bicycle Chain Circuit Race.

Not to be outdone, the men’s team have picked up several top-10 finishes, some of them podiums.

Colin Parry was runner-up at the Abergavenny Road Race, Mark Perry finished fifth in the Gerry Hughes Memorial Road Race, and Grant Bayton filled the same position at Thruxton.

Full-time rider Deacon Cutterham has competed in a number of races abroad, including a UCI pro race in the Sahara desert last month and an event in Belgium against some top teams.

The Youth Development Team got off to a flying start with Josh Price (third) and Gabe Chin (fourth) doing well at Milton Keynes last month.

Junior rider Chris Rothwell finished runner-up in his first XC mountain bike race of the year at the Welsh Series in Pembrey.

Two of Ride 24/7’s youth riders, Will Matthews and Josh Price, were picked to attend a recent RSR (Regional School of Racing) at Castle Combe.

These are the first steps to being selected as part of the ‘Olympic Development Programme’.
