A DRIVER has crashed through a wall at Locking Hill Surgery in Stroud, narrowly missing an admin worker on the other side.

The motorist, a woman in her 60s believed to be a patient at the surgery, ploughed into the wall at the front of the building just before 3pm after smashing into two vehicles which were parked in the car park off Slad Road.

Police on the scene said that the woman was uninjured but suffering from shock.

Her car, a blue Ford Zetec, caused the wall to cave in just inches from admin worker Nikki Lusty, who escaped injury.

Officers are still trying to determine exactly how the accident happened, but PC Kurt Ravenhill told the SNJ that it was believed that the woman lost control of the car and hit the wall, before reversing back into the two parked cars - a grey Ford and red Volvo - and then bolting forward into the wall again.

Admin worker Nikki said: “I heard a loud revving and a bang when the car impacted the wall then it reversed into the cars behind it and came forward again – right through our surgery wall.”

Practice manager Jenny Vallely was in her office at the time of the crash and said she heard an “almighty bang”.

She said builders were on the site assessing the damage, but that the surgery had already been inspected for structural damage and "given the all clear."

Jenny added: “We are continuing on as usual with our appointments. It would take more than this to close us down.”
