A CHARITY shop on Stroud High Street will celebrate its third birthday on Saturday, May 9 with cake, balloons and special offers.

Tranzform, the charity shop raising funds for The Door Youth Project has been selling a range of second hand and new goods, including some made by young people at The Door, since 2012.

Staff at the shop want to say a big thank you to its loyal donors and customers by including them in their birthday celebrations.

"We will be having a BIG cake, baked especially for the day, and anyone spending any money will get a slice", said shop manager Anne Griffiths.

She added: "We've also got some balloons to give out to children and we can promise some amazing special offers.

“Some of our volunteers will be around the town centre and farmers' market giving our flyers which will offer a 30 per cent discount on purchases made on Saturday too."

The Door Youth Project is a Christian charity which aims to meet the needs of all young people in the Stroud District by providing a drop-in youth centre, mentoring and family support and alternative education. It works with around 1,000 young people and their families each year.

Funds raised from sales in Tranzform go directly towards this work.

"Since we opened Tranzform we've raised vital funds for our work", said chief executive Barrie Voyce.

"But the shop offers us so much more.

“It gives us a High Street presence for people to find out more about what we do, and through it we've recruited some fantastic volunteer mentors and shop workers, trained up young people in retail and customer service, and educated youngsters on the benefits of recycling unwanted clothes - or picking up a bargain from a charity shop.

“We're proud to be a part of the local economy and want to celebrate on Saturday in style."
