MAY is ‘Get Into Golf’ month and Cirencester Golf Club are keen to welcome new faces in order to show off their improved facilities.

As part of this nationwide initiative, Cirencester are offering free beginners’ coaching sessions every Monday evening between 6pm and 7pm throughout May.

All equipment will be provided.

Booking is through club professional James Harraway in the pro shop on 01285 656124 or via email jamesharrawaypga@hotmail.co.uk.

In addition, the club are offering a great deal for juniors – free membership to any U18 with a parent who is already a member at Cirencester.

The club’s driving range – which is open to non-members – has had a total overhaul with new mats, flooring, bay dividers and upgraded balls as well as some new targets.

A showpiece full-size chipping and bunker practice green is also due to open shortly behind the clubhouse – which has itself undergone a major makeover.

Phase two of the building work will see the first floor totally refurbished and turned into an impressive function room which has panoramic views of the splendid and well-established James Braid-designed course.

That renovation work is due to be completed at the end of this month.

Cirencester head pro Ed Goodwin – one of the best players throughout the West Region – and the club’s general manager Richard Collishaw and his attentive staff set great store in making Cirencester a warm and welcoming club.

The sport has the perfect role model in world number one Rory McIlroy and with those lovely, long summer evenings to come, what better time is there to get into golf.
