A BELOVED pet dog named Harvey, who was the star of magazines, campaigns and posters across the UK and beyond, is still making waves today, as his owner strives to keep his memory alive.

Jennifer Hyland from Kempsford works in graphic design and brought Harvey into her life when he was just a puppy. As she worked from home, Harvey was soon drawn into the creative world with her.

After being chosen as a mascot for a non-smoking campaign in Swindon, Harvey quickly made a name for himself and was soon appearing at schools, in businesses and also in the form of a cartoon created by Chris Mundy, who worked with Jennifer.

Even though the black springer retriever cross died around six years ago, at age 13, Harvey’s image lives on – and not just in the UK.

“A huge poster of Harvey is currently in the arrivals department at Malta International Airport, supporting the Water Aid – Catch the Drop project,” said Jennifer. “It’s a huge cartoon of him, to make people aware of water shortages. As far as I’m concerned he’s still here.”

Jennifer said she was amazed at how popular her Harvey became.

“He even won the title of ‘super model’ in the office dog of the year competition – which was the launch of national take your dog to work day. These finals were held at Annabel’s Night Club in London – just another of many adventures,” she added.

Harvey visited schools to help promote a healthy lifestyle and also supported local council environmental projects.
