SWIMMERS who took part in the world’s biggest charity swim at Cotswold Leisure Centre in Cirencester have raised over £8,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Each year across the UK around 23,000 people take part in the world’s biggest charity swim event, which over the past 28 years has raised over £40m for good causes Cotswold swimmers took to the pool in Cirencester and swam 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k distances, individually or as part of team on April 17 and 19.

The centres are operated by Everyone Active in partnership with Cotswold District Council.

Andrea North,Everyone Active’s general manager at Cotswold Leisure Centre, said: “This was an incredible achievement for swimmers who took to the water at the centres.

“There was a great atmosphere with plenty of supporters cheering the swimmers from the poolside. I would like to congratulate all the swimmers who trained so hard to complete their challenge. They should be very proud of their achievements and I’m delighted that the Gloucestershire swimming community raised so much money for such an important charity.”
