Stroud MP Neil Carmichael says he is delighted to have been re-elected for a second term after increasing his majority to 4,886.
In an interview with the SNJ, Carmichael said his first priority is to produce a vibrant local economy which Stroud residents will feel the benefit of.
He said he is proud of his record as an MP and felt honoured to be able to continue representing the constituency.
The 54-year-old said the Conservatives understood the issues which mattered to people but was surprised by the margin of his victory.
He said he will fight for the best deals for his constituents in Parliament and put local residents first.
