SEVERAL men suspected of trying to steal dogs in Gloucestershire are being hunted by police.

Yesterday afternoon two separate calls were made to police about men behaving suspiciously in Kingsway, Quedgeley.

Both callers were walking their dogs at the time and it is possible the men might have been trying to steal the dogs.

In the first incident, a woman called police at about 3pm to report that while walking her Jack Russell terrier-cross two men of East European appearance pulled up in a car near the roundabout and got out holding a lead or a rope.

They followed her along the footpath speaking a foreign language.

Having walked past her, they then drove away up Brize Avenue, possibly after seeing two PCSOs close-by.

The males were driving a black Vauxhall Corsa. The first was described as about 6’ tall, white, shaven head, pale complexion, well built, wearing jeans, trainers and a light waterproof-type jacket.

The second suspect was about 6’ tall, white, shaven head, pale complexion, well built, wearing jeans and a dark waterproof-type jacket.

In the second incident, a woman reported that while walking with her daughter and chocolate labrador alongside the brook between Tuffley and Kingsway at about 12.15 pm, a man started to follow them but disappeared into bushes when they met an acquaintance.

The male is described as about 6’ 3 to 4” tall, with a bald or shaven head.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident numbers 256 and 285 of May 7.
