GRFU Development Bowl Final

Cirencester Colts 24 Drybrook Colts 39

CIRENCESTER'S second cup final at Cleve RFC saw defeat at the hands of a very organised Drybrook side who wore down a far lighter Cirencester pack in the second half as they dominated the set piece, territory and possession.

Cirencester were under pressure from the kick-off and a plethora of penalties eventually told as Drybrook scored an early converted try.

Spurning kicks, Cirencester looked to keep the ball in hand and run at their opponents and a sublime break and chip from Sam Johnson enabled him to gather and score.

Drybrook soon worked their way over for a second try and at the end of the half another Johnson break created a gap for Luke Newman to power over; Jack Lister converted for a half-time score of 12-12.

Drybrook again pressured from the kick-off and having won a line-out deep into Cirencester's 22 mauled over for a try.

Almost straight after the restart Newman forced a turnover and Alex Moreing raced away to score, with Jack Lister converting, and for the first time Ciren were in front (19-17).

Drybrook then simply took the game to Cirencester through their bulkier forwards, having little or no interest in opening the game up.

With sometimes 10 or more of their players involved in driving mauls they simply bulldozed over for a further four unanswered tries.

Cirencester did have the last word as they made use of Drybrook's persistent penalty infringements until Seb Ellis drove over for a try.
