JEWELLERY  was taken in a burglary in Hallsfield in Cricklade, which took place between 11am on Friday, May 1 on and 12.40pm on Monday, May 4.

The homeowner had been away during that time and reported the incident at 1pm on May 4, when he arrived home.

There have been a spate of burglaries or attempted break-ins in the town over the past six months including two at two businesses in the high street.

Overnight between Thursday, January 8 and Friday, January 9 Sammy's Kebab shop and the Pure Hair and Beauty salon were burgled and cash and charity collection boxes were stolen.

A leaf blower and fuel was taken from a shed at a property on Byre Close on December 23, on December 19 there was a failed shed break in Portwell and on January 15 a camper van was broken into on Deansfield, and thieves stole two sets of keys.

Police are linking the burglaries in the high street and some of the other burglaries and break-ins but not latest incident.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said that the recent burglary is not being linked to any others that have taken place in the town.
