FESTIVAL organisers in Cirencester have announced that they will be working with company Let's Play Music to create an open mic stage at this year's smash hit music event in the Abbey Grounds.

Anyone who wants to show off their musical talent at this August's Phoenix Festival can grab their chance when the free event comes round in just less than four months time.

Let's Play Music and The Phoenix Festival want to give Cirencester’s talented amateur artists, young and old, a chance to perform and show off their skills on a new stage.

Stuart Elwin of Let’s Play Music said: "We want, singers, guitarists, pianists, school and community choirs, violinists, brass, woodwind, basically any instrument you can carry. We’ll provide a keyboard and electronic drum kit.

"We want all kinds of music from modern to classic covers, original compositions, classical to contemporary pieces. If you've got the talent, then we want to hear it."

Festival organiser Glen Moreman said: "The Phoenix Festival is all about providing a platform to showcase artistic and creative talent in a friendly environment. So we were very excited when Stuart approached us with his open mic idea. This new stage will give amateur artists of all ages, a fantastic musical moment that they can share with their family and friends."

For more information and to register yourself or your child to perform on the open mic stage at The Phoenix Festival 2015 go to letsplaymusic.co.uk/phoenix-festival and apply before July 30.

There will be a few slots kept free for ‘drop-ins’ over the two-day festival on August 29-30 but there will be limited spaces so those interested are urged to apply quickly.

The Phoenix Festival is a free annual family event at Cirencester's Abbey Grounds. The fun weekend features local and national bands and artists, local food and drink, entertainment, activities and more.
