JENNIE Sanford has been elected as Fairford town mayor and Barry Fenby as deputy mayor.
At the annual town meeting last night the two councillors were elected. Cllr Sanford replaces Caroline Mumford, who had been mayor previously.
Cllr Sanford has been on the council for four years. She has lived around Fairford almost all her life, studying at school in town and working as a nurse at Fairford Hospital.
She has one daughter, Michelle, who lives in Cirencester.
Cllr Sanford commented: "I am looking forward to becoming more involved and giving something back to the community that I love."
