A STUDENT at Malmesbury School is hoping to take the crown of Miss Wiltshire at the competition’s finals next month.

Jade Dando, 18, was runner up in Miss Swindon last year and will be competing in this year’s Miss Wiltshire finals.

Last time around Jade decided to keep her progress quiet but time hopes to be heard and make a difference to young people’s confidence as she goes for the top spot.

Since finding out she had a place in this year’s event Jade has been busy arranging a charity event to raise money for Beauty with a Purpose and designing an environmentally friendly dress for the Miss eco award.

Jade said: “If I win this year my main aim is to promote the positives of pageants and to eliminate the beauty queen stereotypes. Most people believe that you have to be ‘skinny’ and ‘perfect’ to win but it’s not true. “The pageant has helped me make loads of new friends as well as given me the opportunity to get involved within the community so much more.”

“Anyone can take part and win. It’s all about your personality and your passion to help others and get involved within the community.”
