A NEW application has been submitted by the team at Cirencester’s Baptist church to demolish the old social club in Chesterton and replace it with a new building on the same footprint.

The group has outgrown its small church on Coxwell Street and the group bought the old social club in Chesterton, opposite the Shell service station, for half a million pounds last year.

Since then the group has proposed a new design for the old building including a 500 seat auditorium and a cafe for community use and is now hoping to start afresh with a new building altogether.

The work to demolish the building has already begun and the church is hoping that they will finish working by summer 2016.

The building is located opposite the Shell petrol station in Chesterton.
