A CAMPAIGN to raise awareness of mental heath issues has been branded a success by Cotswold District Council.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, which took place between May 11 and 15, organisations including the council, 2gether NHS Foundation Trust, the Churn Project, provided a range group and taster sessions and information stands to demonstrate ways to help improve mental health.

CDC’s Health Policy and Partnerships Officer, Bill Wragge, said he was very pleased with the public reaction.

“Once upon a time, mental health was virtually a taboo subject but it is clear that this is not the case nowadays," he said.

"The public responded very positively to the information we made available last week about improving mental health.

“About one in four people experience some kind of mental health problem at any given time, and the most common issues are depression, stress and anxiety. We can all take steps to improve our mental health, and we are confident that the events we laid on last week will help a considerable number of people become much more aware of the help available locally.”
