THE word ‘inspirational’ is tossed around far too easily in the media – but for the late Neil Vines it truly is a fitting description.
For most 19-year-olds, a diagnosis of brain cancer would spark a spiral of depression and self-pity.
But throughout his three-year battle with the disease, Neil was just as focused on helping others as he was on fighting bravely to try to save himself.
Determined to ‘hit back’ at cancer, he ran mammoth distances and scaled extreme heights all in pursuit of raising money so that other young people might escape the death sentence the disease so often brings.
That is the definition of inspirational.
