A 13-YEAR-BOY is in a serious condition in hospital after being found hanging from a tree in Cheltenham.

At around 5.15pm on Thursday, May 21 officers were called to reports that a teenage boy was found hanging from a tree in Robert Burns Avenue.

The boy was cut down from the tree and has been taken by air ambulance to Bristol Children's Hospital and is currently in a serious condition.

His family are with him in hospital and the school that the boy attends have been made aware.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Roads around Benhall Park were closed for a time to allow the air ambulance to land safely.
