CUDDLES were handed out freely at the weekend in the north Cotswolds, as one company came up with a softer approach to raise money for charity.

Susan Thomas, 46, launched baby gift hamper firm Cuddlebox two years ago in Upper Rissington.

On Saturday Cuddlebox visited Bourton, Stow and Moreton with two huge teddy bears to give people hugs and lift spirits.

The day also helped raise money for SpecialEffect, a charity helping disabled children and teenagers, and also to fund a wheelchair for seven-month old Aaleyah who cannot move from the waist down due to Spina Bifida.

Susan said it was an amazing day: "Giving cuddles and hugs is good for you, it is also inclusive. It shows that everybody is included."

Susan is also planning a charity teddy bears picnic for September and hopes to make one day in that month National Cuddle Day.
