STROUD’S Black Book Cafe has had a spring clean with a new manager, new decor and a new set of events to run throughout the summer months.

With a background in acting, coffee making and as head of events at Butlins, Carrie Mason, 34, started as manager of the popular cafe six weeks ago.

“This ties everything together for me,” Carrie said.

“I’ve put my own stamp on it and have kept it quite eclectic.”

With re-decorated toilets, new curtains, table designs and menus, the cafe is busy.

Since starting, Carrie is making an extra £100 a day in profit and she’s getting lots of positive feedback from customers.

A quick glance through the events on offer in June tells you that Carrie is reaching out to all ages. There’s children’s story telling, soup and board games and open mic nights.

Black Book Cafe’s official launch party is on Saturday, May 30, with doors opening at 7pm. The first coffee of the night is free and nibbles will be at hand.
