A CIRENCESTER Kingshill School student will be putting her fantastic leadership and communication skills to the test when she takes place in a course this summer.

Year 11 student, Jodie Ward is being sponsored to take part in the five-night Rotary Youth Leadership Award course in the Forest of Deans after winning the Cirencester Rotary Club’s Young Leadership award.

To win the award Jodie had to prove to the leadership qualities needed to participate in the course and was selected over four entries from other schools in the Cotswolds.

In the July course, Jodie and 39 youngsters aged 16 to 18 will take part in activities that will test her leaderships skills, such as canoeing and kayaking and taking part in a high ropes course.

Shaun Gibson, of the Rotary Clun of Cirencester, said: “Jodie demonstrated from the interviews not only that she had these qualities but also that she would get maximum benefit from the course.”
