A RECENTLY renovated restaurant has appointed two senior staff members.

The Porch House in Stow-on-the-Wold, which claims to be England’s oldest inn, has appointed Alex Davenport Jones as general manager and Damian Roberts as head chef.

Alex previously founded Fat Grape Ltd – which he describes as eBay for wine-lovers – and spent 12 years as director and landlord for The Seven Tuns, Chedworth, and The Chequers Inn, Cassington.

Damian previously worked as Head Chef of The Chequers Inn, Churchill and in Majorca’s 5 star Hotel Dorint.

Chef Damian said: “We try to base things around being as local as possible, we get all out meat from Butts Farm and Todenham Farm just down the road and even get our veg from a local guy.

“The asparagus we’re serving tonight was picked this morning – you can’t get much fresher than that.”

The boozer-come-restaurant has also launched its own Brakspear-brewed Porch House ale.
