CHYP awareness week is coming up, with the aim to raise money and muster up support for young people in Cirencester who have nowhere to live.

Cirencester Housing for Young People (CHYP) is hosting its annual awareness week next week, from Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26 with the aim to raise much-needed funds and spread the word about youth homelessness in the area.

Events are being held all throughout the week to drum up support for the charity.

Monday, June 22 - residents are invited to pop into CHYP headquarters at 29-31 Querns Lane to have a cup of tea and some cake from 2.30-4.30pm.

Tuesday, June 23 - visitors can enjoy the popular annual Moore Allen antiques valuation day from 3-7pm at the CHYP Shop, 20 The Waterloo.

Wednesday, June 24 - there is a treasure trail around Bibury, starting at 7pm. Tickets are £15 to include a buffet meal.

Thursday, June 25 - Alison Fielden & Co will be hosting a cake sale for CHYP at their offices from 9am at Gate House in Dollar Street.

Friday, June 26 - volunteers will be out in force in the town centre to do a street collection.

Fundraiser for CHYP Natalie Ledger said about the charity: "We are a small local group that provides supported accommodation for vulnerable young people who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own.

"We support single young people, aged between 16 and 25 years old, in and around Cirencester. Our aim is not just to offer these young people a roof over their heads but the practical and emotional support to enable them get their lives back on track and living independently."

Throughout the week CHYP volunteers will also be selling tickets for a summer raffle with prizes including a stay in a chalet in France for a week, two first class train tickets with First Great Western, dinner at the Kings Head and more.

Tickets available at the CHYP Shop at 20 The Waterloo costing £1 each.
