REPORTS are coming in of a two-vehicle accident between Painswick Old Road in Stroud and Wades Lane in Pitchcombe.
One of the cars is on its side blocking the road. The cars involved are a Seat Altea and a VW Caddy.
Gloucestershire Roads Police are at the scene and have said that they do not believe there are any serious injuries.
A spokesperson said: "We're awaiting recovery to clear the carriageway so that traffic flow can return to normal."
The A46 closed at Salmon Springs between Painswick and Stroud due to the collision.
