AFTER an investigation started in November last year the Environment Agency has taken a concrete step towards identifying why a white liquid is occasionally seen pouring into a stream in Siddington.
Siddington resident John Meredith reported the incident to the Standard after telling the environment agency for what he believed to be the 11th or 12th time since November of last year.
Mr Meredith, 78, has lived near the stream since 1945 and said that he has never seen anything quite like the milky hue the water has repeatedly taken on in the last year.
After making little progress over winter the agency explained that they had been examining the flow of liquids through nearby drainage systems.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "We visited the area again on June 9 to carry out dye tracing. This involves lifting manhole covers and using a coloured, harmless dye that we can track through the drainage network.
"We are doing this to better understand how the drainage in the area works and to narrow down where the white substance may be entering the drainage network before it is ultimately discharged to the watercourse."
The Environment Agency is asking anyone who witnesses similar incidents to report them on 0800 807060.
