CIRENCESTER Kingshill School is celebrating becoming an ambassador for one of the most important events in the rugby calendar.

Gloucester is the host city of the Rugby World Cup (RWC), which is taking place in September, and the school has been chosen as one of only ten Host City Hub Schools (HCHS) in the country for the tournament.

As part of its role the school will be helping to promote the tournament by holding workshops, and rugby events, as well as promoting the RWC within schools in the area.

The promotion of the tournament will be led by eight pupils who will act as RWC ambassadors.

Due to the school becoming a HCHS, it became the only secondary school in the country, which was invited to attend the launch of RWC Trophy Tour at Twickenham which celebrates rugby and the country hosting the tournament.

The event on June 10 , held 100 days before the start of the tournament, was attended by Prince Harry, along with former English rugby stars Jonny Wilkinson and Will Greenwood.

Beth Huxtable, Ryan Brookes, Molly Stephens, Oliver Grainger-Williams and Tomas Woodward were invited by England Rugby and the Sports Youth Trust to represent Cirencester Kingshill School at the event where they took part in workshops and had their photo taken with the World Cup trophy and Prince Harry.
