A DRIVER of a grey van threatened another motorist and pulled the door handle off his car in a road rage incident in Nailsworth.

The driver of a black Ford Ka reported seeing the light grey van dangerously overtake five vehicles on the A46 at the junction of the A4315 at about 3pm on Friday, June 19.

He indicated his disapproval to the van driver who is reported to have then pulled into a layby, waited for the Ka driver to pass, then followed him down the Avening Road.

At the Weighbridge Inn, the van driver pulled in front of the Ka and stopped his vehicle; he got out, thumped on the window of the Ka, verbally abused the driver and broke off the front offside door handle.

The Ka driver said he drove away with the van pursuing him across Minchinhampton Common before it eventually turned off down Brimscombe Hill.

Police want to speak to the van driver who is described as being in his late 20s, about 5ft 6ins tall, with dark hair. He was wearing a polo shirt, a dark fleece and jeans.

Officers would also like to trace the driver of another car behind the victim, who may have witnessed the incident of threats and criminal damage on the Avening Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 272 of 19 June 2015.
