SWEET Hearts of Nailsworth, that fabulously popular purveyor of chocolaty treats, who even do their own version of a Snickers bar within their extensive selection, have developed a new range of luxury ice cream.

The ladies have been working on the new product for some months and over time have developed a rich, velvety ice cream which will be available in simply delicious flavours like Vanilla Pod or Strawberries and Cream, or the more unusual, such as, Chocolate and Irish Cream and Chai Tea.

The ice creams are handmade using local cream and natural flavourings and are available at the market in individual tubs to eat as you tour the market.

Goat Maid Soaps is a great new local stall that milk their goats and produce their range of truly gorgeous soaps in Thrupp.

Goats’ milk has long been renowned for luxury, sensitivity and beneficial properties to the skin and whole body.

The maids walk to milk the goats twice a day, and freeze their creamy bounty until needed for a fresh batch of soap, made little and often.

The soaps are vegetarian and don’t contain any of the bad stuff that many others do: no paraffin, no palm oil (destroys rainforests, orangutans and indigenous cultures), no SLS or other harmful chemicals, no artificial colours/fragrances, no plastic packaging.

The range is available on the stall on the fourth Saturday of the month; Calendula; Lavender & Bergamot, Mint & Rosemary, Rose Geranium, Sandalwood, Vanilla & Coffee, Ylang Ylang & Patchouli and a lovely unscented heart soap; great for children and the most sensitive skin.

Other things to look out for this Saturday include local CIC Down to Earth with vegetable and fruit plants for the garden or allotment at very good prices (and really good hardy plants) and if you like dry cured meats we have Trealy Farm Charcuterie and Big Horn Biltong.

Final apologies to all our regulars who are missing La Parisienne Bakery; when dealing with the tiny family businesses we work with at the farmers markets it can happen that circumstances contrive to make attending the market impossible.

We hope they will be back this Saturday.
