DATES have been set for consultations on a new village of more than 2,000 homes at Cotswold Airport, Kemble which could replace the Chesterton development in Cirencester.
Commercial Estates Group (CEG) put the radical proposal to Cotswold District Council (CDC) in response to its Local Plan which sets out where a total of 7,500 homes will be built in the region by 2031.
CDC’s Local Plan includes a controversial proposal for 2,350-homes in the Chesterton area of Cirencester, but CEG suggested moving that development to the airfield at Kemble in February of this year.
Cotswold Airport bosses gave CEG permission to look at the feasibility of building on its site and now their plans are ready to be put to the public.
The planners from CEG have said that because this issue will affect the whole district they will be holding several events in the area.
The first will be at the Kemble Tavern in Kemble on July 15 from 2pm to 8pm. The second will be at Redesdale Hall, Moreton-in-Marsh from on July 16 from 11am to 4pm.
Two more shows will take place from 10am to 4pm on July 18 at Kemble Primary School and at 3-4 Brewery Court in Cirencester A copy of the exhibition material will also be available online from July 20 at kembleairfield.com
