ADRIAN MIEDZINSKI made what is likely to have been his final appearance for the Swindon Robins as they crashed 52-38 at basement side Leicester in Monday’s televised clash.

With Coventry and Belle Vue both victorious on the night, Swindon's chances of making the play-offs are now looking slim.

While the side does have matches in hand, ten of their remaining 16 fixtures are away from home.

Miedzinski, back after nearly three months out with a serious hand injury, failed to score in his three rides and had to suffer the humiliation of being replaced by lively reserve Charles Wright in his final scheduled outing.

Miedzinski, who had scored a season's best score of 11 for his Polish side the day before, suffered the wrath of Sky Sports commentator Kelvin Tatum who rightly summed up the efforts of the Grand Prix winner in 2013 by saying: "He doesn’t want to be here.”

After the meeting an angry Robins boss Alun Rossiter tweeted: "Well that was shocking – not good enough"

But it was not just Miedzinski who was below-par for the Robins as they recorded only four wins but 11 last places.

Eight points down after four heats, Kyle Howarth was the first Robins race winner in heat five Meanwhile skipper Troy Batchelor had engine problems in his first race but recovered to take two late wins including a heat 15 5-1 with Grzegorz Zengota.

Rossiter said: "Adrian came to me after the meeting and said he has a problem riding in England. He cannot handle it at this stage after his bad injury early in the season, so it looks like we're without him.

"Now it's time for big decisions. Bold decisions. We have to do something to keep our season alive, so we will see what happens.

"I'm aware of all the speculation linking us with Darcy Ward, but there's nothing to add from me because there's nothing in place.

"People keep asking the question about Darcy, but with him or any other signing unless there is anything in place I cannot comment."

Robins fans fear that last night's top scorer Zengota may have to be sacrificed in any reshuffle to accommodate a big name.

On Thursday, the Robins entertain Wolverhampton who lost at home to Coventry on Monday and it will be interesting to see who replaces Miedzinski. It is unlikely that Ward will have been able to sort out his work permit in time.

The visitors do look quite weak; Wolves number one Freddie Lindgren is having a tough time this year and there does not appear to be the backup behind him.

This is a must-win match for Swindon.
