Western States Endurance Run

HENRY CHURCH of the Running Somewhere Else club ran in the oldest 100-mile trail race in the world. Starting in Squaw Valley, California, the course climbs more than 18,000 feet and descends some 23,000 feet.

The course includes a chest-deep river crossing and day-time temperatures exceeded 40 degrees C.

Henry completed this gruelling challenge in less than 24 hours and came in 80th place – an amazing achievement.

Cotswold Way Relay

HUGE congratulations go to all the RSE runners who competed in the tough, hilly, hot but stunningly beautiful Cotswold Way Relay on Saturday.

The event started early in the morning at Chipping Campden with Hazel Bridges running the first leg to Stanway House, where Sharon Smith took over for the run to Cleeve Common.

From there it was Mark Garrett to Seven Springs, James Thomas to Cranham Corner, Nick Duncan to Ebley Mill, Kirsty Pitts to Dursley, Richard Marshall to Wotton-under-Edge, Ben Chapman to Old Sodbury, Alice Mason to Cold Ashton, and the last leg was completed by Dave Whitlow to Bath Abbey. The team completed the relay in 15:49.55.

Kingsway Parkrun

FOUR RSE runners took on the Kingsway 5k Parkrun in Gloucester on Saturday.

Caroline Sandercock came in first for the club in 30.54, followed by first-timers at this Parkrun Andrea Wood (40.53), Elspeth Murano (53.30) and Wendy Wilson (53.34). Wendy's daughter Caitlin also ran her very first 5k.

Hitchin Hard Half-Marathon

JON COLLINS ran in this year's Hitchin Hard Half-Marathon, an out-and-back route starting at Hitchin Priory, with a loop along the Preston hills.

The route is mainly along country roads, with great views of the Red Kites on the Chiltern Hills. Jon finished in 1:46.41 for 79th place overall.

Blaise Castle 10k

HALI KINSON ran in the Blaise Castle 10k in Bristol on Sunday.

The race was a two-loop, multi-terrain, challenging course including a hilly section in the middle, but also taking in some breathtaking scenery.

Hali achieved a brilliant result to complete the race in 52.44 and finish eighth.
