STROUD pupils had the chance to ask MP Neil Carmichael questions about about his job and the workings of Parliament when he visited Rodborough Primary School on Monday, June 29.

Headteacher Maggie Halsey invited Mr Carmichael to meet year six students to talk about democracy and how he applies the skills learnt at school to his everyday work in parliament.

A question and answer session followed with the pupils asking questions, such as: “What is it like to be an MP?”, “What inspired you to go into politics?”, and “How would you change the world?”.

The year six pupils also wrote letters to the Stroud MP about the British values they think are important.

Neil said: “I was very impressed by the pupils’ engagement with the topic of democracy and the workings of parliament.

"They asked great questions on a number of topics.

"I took their letters straight back to Westminster with me, and having read them all I am very impressed with their formal writing skills and ideas.”
