A CAMPAIGN to discourage investment in fossil fuels has been given Royal backing.

HRH the Prince of Wales used a speech at St James’ Palace to call for “profound changes” to how the global economy is run, including an end to British taxpayer subsidies for coal, oil and gas.

He gave his backing to the Guardian’s Keep It In The Ground campaign, saying their message was “clear, compelling and powerfully resonant”.

He added that an “unprecedented level of cooperation and integration” was needed to secure the well-being of the planet.
