RESIDENTS and businesses are being invited to have their say on proposals to improve parking in Moreton-in-Marsh town centre.

The council conducted a parking survey  in 2013/13 which found congestion on the High Street is affecting businesses, attractions and tourist sites.

It also found that the Old Market Way car park is being under used and more parking for local workers is needed.

Now the council is holding consultation sessions over proposals to introduce time restrictions, a pay and display system, plus a new permit parking scheme that aims to make it easier for residents to park near their homes.

Two drop-in consultation events will be held at Moreton Area Centre, High Street, Moreton-in-Marsh, GL56 0AZ on Wednesday  July 15  from 11am until 4pm and Tuesday, July 21 from 3pm until 7pm where local people can have their say on the proposals.

Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood said:“We have listened to the people of Moreton and worked with town council to come up with some suggested improvements. Now we’d like to hear what people think about these ideas so would encourage everyone to come along to one of our drop in events this week to give us their feedback. People can also go online to find out more and have their say.”
