FARMERS from Wiltshire toasted the 80th anniversary of the organisation that gives them support at the weekend.

In 1935 the Wiltshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs was formed in towns across the County by the United Dairies milk factories to encourage farming children to rear calves, with competitions and prizes for those achieving the highest standards. Today the group, which has a branch in Malmesbury, offer s members a social and educational network, a safe environment for activities as well as advice on maintaining countryside and farming traditions.

And members, past and present, got together to celebrate the historic group’s birthday with a Ball at Grittleton House, Chippenham on Friday night.

They also enjoyed a barbecue and games afternoon at Easterton Sands on Saturday afternoon and a Tea Party on Sunday afternoon at Cumberwell Park, Bradford on Avon.

The celebrate their anniversary year the group have taken part in various fundraising activities, including producing a charity ‘bare all’ calendar which raised £1800 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
