A VOTE on fox hunting has been put on hold after the Scottish National Party (SNP) revealed it would vote against changes.

The vote would have brought the law in line with Scotland by allowing more than two dogs to be used to flush out prey to then be killed by a bird of prey or by shooting.

Killing the fox would only be permissible for pest control and using dogs to kill the fox would remain illegal.

Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown had said he would vote in favour of the change but the vote had to be shelved after SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon said her party would take part in vote because of "overwhelming demand" from people in England.

With David Cameron's slender margin in the House of Commons, he did not want to risk losing the vote.
