COST-CUTTING measures announced by the Ministry of Justice could lead to the closure of magistrates courts in Stroud and Gloucester.
Both are on a list of 70 courts around the country which have been earmarked for closure as part of a government drive to cut court estate costs.
The plan would leave Cheltenham as the sole magistrates court in Gloucestershire.
The Ministry of Justice estimates that around half a billion pounds each year is spent on court estate costs and claims that many are underused.
