THERE’S no business like show business for best friends Molly-May Kent and Callum Paul.

Molly-May, 19, from Stroud, and Callum, 18, from Quedgeley, have beaten stiff competition to gain places at one of the country’s top music colleges.

Having just finished their A-levels at Archway School, they start at the London College of Music in September.

Molly-May will study musical theatre while Callum will train as an actor.

They beat thousands of applicants to be chosen for just 15 places.

And the pair will be showing off their talents at a fundraising event called Night At The Musicals in August.

The two aspiring West End performers have organised a tribute night in memory of Molly-May’s godfather Paul Carter – the well-known Stroud district and Nailsworth town councillor who died last year.

Both will perform at A Night At The Musicals, which will feature hits from Chicago, Mama Mia and Les Misérables to commemorate Paul’s love of musicals.

They will donate all the money raised to the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice and Longfield, which both cared for Mr Carter after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Molly-May said: “My godfather always taught me to persevere and never give up. That is something that has always stuck with me in life. I think the things he taught me about perseverance have made me the person I am today.

“He was a much-loved figure in the community who worked extremely hard for the things he believed in, so it will be great to pay respect to his memory and give something back to the charities that helped him so much in his final months.”

The musical night starts at 7.30pm at the Whitminster Inn on Friday, August 7. Go to bit.ly/1IH6f3n to buy tickets at £10 each.
