JUNE Wilson and fellow fundraisers slept under the stars for a good cause on Saturday.

They were taking part in a sponsored sleep on the streets of Cirencester that saw them donning their sleeping bags outside St John’s Church.

June was joined by her sister in-law Cherry Stroud and seven other ladies who were helping raise money for cancer research and Sourhmead hospital.

The group arrived at Market Place in Cirencester at 8pm and slept outside the church until 6am the following morning.

They collected £342.48 on the night and have raised just over £700 in total.

“The people of Cirencester were very kind and friendly,” said June. “It was definitely an eye opener to what the homeless have to go through day by day.

“It got very cold from 3am but the sleeping bags helped.

“We would like to mention a big thank you to the Fleece hotel for the use of the Ladies room and for the supply of coffee.

“Also the police and taxi drivers were amazing with their donations.”
