COTSWOLDS wakeboarder Steph Caller was crowned British champion 2015 at the UK Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate National Championships last weekend.

The championships, which took place at Box End Park, near Bedford, saw top wakeboard riders compete across the two-day event.

Steph competed in the Open Ladies Wakeboard Final having won the UK nationals previously in 2008 and 2011.

Speaking about her victory, Steph said: "I was absolutely delighted to win the 2015 Wakeboard Nationals this weekend. It meant a lot to me this year in particular as it is my 10th year competing and I recently turned 30!

"I qualified in first place on Friday, so I went out last in the top seed position for the final on Saturday.

"I had a great first run, landing everything cleanly, including a "blind judge" and "540". It was really close between the top four riders, but my first run had been enough to secure me the top spot overall so I was able to relax into my second run, knowing I had the title (only your best run counts).

"I would like to thank my sponsors Animal and WMSki for all their support over the years."

Steph, who works as a graphic designer in Cheltenham, has been on the British Wakeboard team for the past eight years and trains at WMSki at the Cotswold Country Park and Beach, South Cerney.

WMSki had a successful championship with wakeboarding siblings Bobby and Matilda Carne, from South Cerney, adding to Steph’s gold medal, winning bronze in the Junior Men’s and Junior Ladies competitions respectively.

By winning the national championship Steph has earned herself an invite to the Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup in Shanghai, China this October.

Steph will next compete at the European Championships in Italy from September, 14-18.
