THERE is still time to enter our Pub of the Year competition.

The Badger at Eastington, the Old Spot in Dursley, the Lamb at Eastcombe, the Woolpack at Slad and the Ale House in Stroud are all among the nominations vying for the title.

And there is still time for put forward your local.

This is your chance to share what you love about your favourite pub.

Good food, a wide selection of real ales and friendly staff are all factors worthy of a nomination.

The Stroud News & Journal has teamed up with MP Neil Carmichael to find the best watering hole in the district.

And the winning landlords will not only receive a trophy but will also be invited to spend a day in Westminster and serve their brewery’s beer at a bar inside the Houses of Parliament.

Mr Carmichael said: “Local pubs really matter to our communities and there are many very good pubs across the district. It will be a difficult task, but it is a fabulous opportunity for pubs to enter this excellent competition, which I have given my support.”

Nominations close on August 31.

After this date, the pubs with the most nominations will be shortlisted and there will then be a public vote to choose the winner.

Shortlisted pubs will be profiled in the newspaper and online.
