THE DEADLINE entries can be received for the Standard’s Pub of the Year competition is approaching fast.

People can share everything they love about their local, whether it is delicious food, a wonderful array of real ales, or friendly staff, by nominating it to win the competition, which has a nomination deadline of Monday (August 31).

Cotswold MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, has teamed up with the paper to offer the winning landlord a chance spend a day in Westminster, where they can serve their brewery’s beer at a bar inside the Houses of Parliament. The winning publican will also get a trophy.

The votes have been pouring in and some of the pubs nominated so far include The Bakers Arms in Somerford Keynes, The Golden Cross in Cirencester and the Royal Oak in Tetbury.
