A HAIRDRESSER from Nailsworth has flown to Spain – not to enjoy the sunshine but to learn new techniques and skills.

Ella Williams, 23, from Twenty 12 Hair Boutique, jetted off to Tarragona on Sunday with five other apprentices, all of whom have been selected for the international work placement.

The placement has been arranged by Bridgend-based ISA Training, the largest independent hairdressing and beauty training provider in Wales, with funding support from the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme for education, training, youth and sport.

The apprentices will work in a salon and attend workshops during their two-week visit, the second organised by ISA Training.

Ella, who lives in Stroud, said: “It will be the first time that I’ve worked in another country and I’m really excited about the opportunity but also a bit nervous.

"I am looking forward to learning new techniques and improving my skills.”

Berni Tyler, ISA Training’s managing director, said: “The work placement is designed to show apprentices the exciting career opportunities that exist in Spain.

"We want to enhance the learning experience and inspire our learners to realise hairdressing and beauty therapy are professions that can grant them a passport to travel the world.”
