PUPILS from Siddington Primary School were greeted from their summer break with a surprise that had them shrieking “oh my God it’s awesome”.
During the summer the school had a makeover which saw a three tower climbing frame installed, complete with a rope bridge and plank so it can be used to make dens and for pirate role play.
And as part of the facelift, outside areas of two classrooms were spruced up with flower beds and a beech tree that is used for storytelling was decorated to make it look magical.
Headteacher Carol Dougill, who had kept the makeover a secret from pupils until the first day of term today , said the children were delighted with the new facilities.
“It was looking a bit grim and very sad and now it is looking like a brand new school all over,” Mrs Dougill said.
“We had a lot of ‘oh my God, it’s awesome’. We have almost relaunched the school.
“We have been saving up money for a couple of years, it has come out of our school budget.”
“I promised them a surprise when they got back to school and I didn’t tell anyone but it is just fabulous.”
